    Decent trails/camping in SW Utah???

If you set up a base above Cedar City I would think you will find plenty of camping. I am not real familiar with all the trails, but the Mountains above Beaver are great as well.

    Utah Rave Update

Agreed that they protest too much that "no drugs", "peacable", "everything legal" for it to be believable. As sad as it is, music, youth and drugs/underage drinking go together too often. Put is in a venue not designed for crowds or concerts and it seems even harder to keep it all seperate...

    large SUV- which is best?

Lots of good input- thanks one and all. Here is what I am seeing: Suburban: overall very good family and tow rig. Excursion: mixed track record on towing. Expidition: Good towing, not as much room. Dodge: needs to get on board and make a bigger rig (agreed, liked my 98 Durango...

    4x4 Club ideas

If you want to have a more formal club, then a "cause" is very inportant- make yourself standout form the rest out there. If it is to be an informal group mostly for fun, the one thing that needs to be figured in is what type of wheeling is going to be done. Is it to be lighter trails geared...

    large SUV- which is best?

A new family hauler is on the distant edges of my radar screen. Would be looking for lots of seating (3 kids plus the carpool factor), strong towing (upto 22 ft boat) and room for dogs and camping gear. Not the main off-roader of course, but reasonable capicity is always good. Any thoughts...

    Hole in the rock trail

Would be another trail I would love to do. Just need the time I guess (or make the time.) Sounds like I would probably be OK vehicle wise- have an 03 Montero Sport with 32" BFG All-Terrians, otherwise stock. Just need the time and someone who knows the area. If I had enough time just...

    Hole in the rock trail

Great album...looks like a fun trip. What would say are minimum vehicle needs to make the treck (assuming- right or wrong -a reasonably smart driver)?

    Henry Mnts/Hanksville

Just wondering what anyone out there knows about the roads/trails that lead off the highway between Hanksville and Ticabo. Everytime I drive to Bullfrog I see the roads heading both into the Henrys and out towards the canyons and think it looks like a great area to explore. Anyone have info...

    Hanksville/Henry Mountains

Anyone know much about the trails around Hanksville down towards Ticabo/Bullfrog area? See lots of roads heading both into the Henry Mountains and out towards the canyons every year driving to Bullfrog and think I need to explore the area sometime soon. Tell me all you know.

    Yes or no

For a daily driver, I would not be excited about putting alot of money into the older Jeep. But, I don't pretend to be a mechanic. I agree with the advantage of getting out of debt quicker- always wise. All that said, I would be more inclined to buy the Unlimited- esp if you need the extra...

    Your thought's on wheelin

Private land is also the other great solution- buy your own place to play.

    Your thought's on wheelin

Sounds like a good topic for our Land Use experts. My feelings, if it ain't a road/trail already, keep off. The only time I have gone against that has been along the shores of Lake Powell at low water levels- assuming it will shortly be underwater again. I wonder even how wise that is since...

    More SUWA press---

I agree that SUWA is a dangerous group. My point was the poll answers themselves. They do not say that Utahns are anti-ORV (although the media and SUWA may make it seem that way.) We can help with the public opinion via our actions and, yes we do need to proactively deal with both the...

    More SUWA press---

I think an important point is being missed here. That being the preception that ORV use creates problems. And lets be honest with ourselves- too often it does. Who else has seen or read complaints on this board about illegal bipasses, litter, vehicles (ATVs mostly) still using closed...

    pickup mileage??

1 ton diesel to tow an 5,000 rig??? Sounds like over kill to me- sorta like a Hummer for mall speed bumps. More than what you need, but sure looks good!

    pickup mileage??

One thing I noticed with SUVs is that the milage is not much better with the V6 than the V8 in most cases. I would think a V8 Dakota would do fine- but would urge trailer brakes not matter the tow vehicle.

    New H3

I probably could do that on my Montero Sport (run 32s now without in problems and look like there is room to spare). And for those talking cost,I jumped onto the Hummer page and found you can equip one with the "adventure package" (33s, rear locker etc) and barely break $30k. Not too bad really.

    New H3

Interesting debate- rant may be the better word. May I risk life and limb by saying the obvious? That being that no one panning the H3 has actually wheeled one. (same could be said of the other anti-anything-thats-not-a-jeep-or-toyota lines that get going at times... think the LR3 etc). I...
