    Getting a snowblower

I've had both single and two stage. The two stage was great when the snow was very deep but it was heavy and slow. I now have two single stage units a Toro and a Honda. The Toro is a 2 stroke the Honda is a four stroke. The four stroke is the one I use the most because it is quit and doesn't...

Lets see your wild animal pics/vids.

Here are a few more. The big bucks are pictures from my brother's front yard, every year during the rut big bucks come down into his yard and he gets some great pictures. The moose is one we saw on a hike. The bear and the cougar sneaking up on the elk are from my son's friend.

Help me decide my next project.

This picture is of the first 4x4 I built so you can guess my vote. It started out as a two wheel drive and got upgraded.

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

I flushed the entire cooling system and put in a new thermostat. The initial tests driving around close to home were good so yesterday I ran it up Parleys and it never got over 210 degrees. The only time I got it above that was pushing it hard and then slowing down. It would creep up to 220 then...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

I pulled the thermostat last night and tested it in hot water, it opens up well but doesn't close all the way. It also had a fair amount of gunk in it. I'm flushing everything out now and will be replacing that thermostat.

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

We pulled the radiator out and found a bunch of crap in it so we now have to do a thorough flush of the system. He should have flushed the radiator out thoroughly before installing it. He also picked up a brand new radiator that we are going to put in it. We also found with the IR gauge that the...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

Yes I had similar thoughts about using his old radiator for a test. I also had my son in law test his XJ that has had lots of heating issues. He just put in a new all aluminum radiator and water pump with triple fans and at idle his upper to lower hose temp change was 50 degrees.

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

The radiator is a single core but the core is close to 3 inches wide.

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

I do have a wideband and it is running good numbers at all speeds except wide open throttle stays in closed loop running 14.7. The high flow stuff was on my Jeep and had no issues. The temp stays fine when going slow, its going on the freeway or up a hill where you give it more throttle that has...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

I just went and did some testing. I duct taped all around the air shroud and even extended it a bit with some aluminum and it seemed to help the fan pull better but didn't help the temp issue. I did use the IR meter and check different tubes on the radiator and found that some were cooler than...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

The engine does have the FlowKooler high flow water pump, high flow thermostat and housing. When it was in my Jeep it had all of the same parts except my radiator was for a V8 CJ and it cooled things fine. The shroud is ok but we did have to modify the mounts for it on the bottom side since the...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

The engine does have a 195 thermostat and you can see it working as it should with the IR gauge as well as watching the flow with the cap off. The fan could be an issue, The fan clutch seems to be tight enough but with how thick the radiator is I'm not sure it's pulling enough air through. I was...

    Jeep Too much radiator ?

My son's Comanche has had heating issues ever since we put in the stroker motor. I have fixed several things that have helped but he still has problems. Today I did a test on some of the vehicles that call my driveway home and found some interesting results. The test I did was to use an IR temp...

    SpeedHut Guages

I have been needing a new speedometer for my CJ8 and found an interesting unit from SpeedHut. They have a gauge that fits right in the old speedometer spot and uses GPS for the speed. The reviews I have read are good and this would allow me to lose the speedo cable and never worry about gears...

Jeep Son's overheating Jeep and what it did to my Jeep

When I had the motor in my Jeep it never overheated but I had a custom adapter that let me put in the bigger throttle body from the 4.7 V8. After some measuring I found that the blade that runs the TPS on the 4.7 clocks the TPS 3 degrees more which puts out a higher voltage at full throttle. I...

Jeep Son's overheating Jeep and what it did to my Jeep

Well I hooked up the AFR meter and found that the computer is keeping the mixture at 14.7 even at full throttle. I have read that after 75% throttle its supposed to switch to open loop. I see it drop out of closed loop on deceleration so I'm wondering whats going on. Maybe its time for a new...
