    Help with Caddy Calipers

That might be the problem, I got 78 calipers at first but didn't really look at them until I got the disc brake bracket. The bracket is set up for 7" wide mounting screws but the the 78 calipers were 5.5" (?). So I exchanged the calipers for the older style (77?) that are identical to the 3/4...

    Help with Caddy Calipers

I tried with the caliper piston compressor/ rotator tool. It would spin the front and rear of the piston but would not go in any futher. The employee at Autozone tried also, piston would spin but not go in any further. I'm stumped. Thanks, Brad J.

Thanks for the idea. I bought a cheap WIFI PCI card and pic up usually 1-5 WIFI networks around me but have never had a strong enough signal to connect. I was going to buy a 1 mile range WIFI card but I will try this 1st. It sucks only connecting @ 28.8k everytime and options and funds are...

    Help with Caddy Calipers

I brought the Calipers to Autozone and couldn't get them to go in any further so brought the tool home to keep trying. I pulled the red cap out of where the brake line goes in and you can see that the piston is as far back as it can go so I'm stuck. Could these NAPA Calipers be the problem...

    I gotta question

Cool. I got a 10 Bolt for free from someone dropping it off at the dump. How hard is it to convert it to an 8 lug, and would it be worth doing it? Thanks, Brad J.

    Help with Caddy Calipers

Well I've got the D60 disc brake brackets, 77 3/4 ton Chevy Rotors, 78 rear Caddy Eldorado Calipers w/ pads but here is the problem. The calipers have the piston portion hanging out about 3/8" and wont go in any further. I have tried to get them in further by playing w/ the e-brake lever but...

If you bought an 8-track tape...

Bread. I actually have an 8 track recorder and some blank 8 tracks (I think I could find them). I agree on the Elvira, My dad's 71 F100 that I drove in HS played that 8 track song alot. A couple years ago there were tons of good 8 tracks at the local Thrift stores but I think there is a...

How to Disc Brake a D60 rear?

That is a really good idea. I spoke w/ Shawn @ Great Lake Offroad a couple times today and he is building me a custom bracket since the IH Dana 60 bolt pattern is much larger than anything else out there (4 1/4" x 3 9/16") for $75. He is not sure if the Chevy or Ford rotors will fit so I'll...

How to Disc Brake a D60 rear?

That is my reasoning also, The scout is 35 years old and still using the orig master cylinder as far as I know. I may end up using an early (late 60's) Corvette manual disc brake master cylinder for better stopping power. Its a bolt in upgrade when you've got all disc's on these early Scout's...

How to Disc Brake a D60 rear?

Thanks RockMonkey, Any idea what year of Caddy Eldorado cailpers to ask for at the parts store and how much they run. I'm thinking of giving it a try and if the e-brake wont hold then add a line lock. Thanks, Brad J.

How to Disc Brake a D60 rear?

Thanks guys, you pointed me in the right direction. My axles are 8 lug and I'm looking for a bolt on and go. I don't trust my welding abilities on the important stuff yet. I will have to take some measurements of my axles and give Shawn a call @ Great Lakes Offroad. Do you remember how much you...

How to Disc Brake a D60 rear?

I'm trying to finish up SOA on my scout but stumped on the brakes. The brakes are completly shot and prices seem really high since its out of a 69-71 IH truck. I paid $100 for 2 new wheel cylinders and it looks like I need to replace everything in there (brake shoes and spring tension...

    Failed Safety Inspection

Great, Now when my Scout fails safety I can't go down the street and take my pick as to which shop requires the least amount of effort/money to get it to pass. Oh the good ol' days before all of these computers where tied into everything. -Brad J.
