top gear on the history channel.

Eh, it won't make it to Netflix. That's the only place I watch it, I can't stomach paying more than that $10 a month to not have anything worth watching.

    Steel question

A thickwall 2x2 tube would have plenty of strength, the weak spot is going to be the leverage against the mounting points anyways. The way tubing is made, you won't readily find cold rolled thickwall stuff, it's just too hard to get that small of a bend in it.

Engine dies at anything over 1500rpm

Fuel filter is a good start, especially if you are using the original crap collector AMC tank. It'll mostly plug up but still pass enough fuel for idle, but won't pass enough to actually run the engine. It'd be very odd for a DSII spark box to make this sort of issue, usually they either work...

    TF 999 ??

With both disconnected, one won't be sucking air, it won't be doing anything since it's just a return. I have used the both lines into a bucket method with good success in the past on GM transmissions, that should work well here too. In an auto trans, 5gallons goes by pretty fast, and you may...

    Plastic-Dip floor covering?

I've had bad experience with this type of product and getting consistent results, especially in the multiple angles/curves of a floor. I may just go ahead and use the plasti-dip, I know I'll have to use their special primer as well. I think I am going to also put some of that roof seal tape...

    Plastic-Dip floor covering?

I can't get a new properly fitting floor mat for my Courier, and don't have the budget for a spray-in bedliner style floor covering. Something I have seen suggested is Plasti-Dip, possibly with sand sprinkled on it or mixed in to give a bit more grip, but I haven't been able to find anyone who...

    welding question

Pull the internals including that seal, and use a propane weed burner to get it up to temp. Weld shops and I think CAL Ranch carry temperature crayons, different wax compositions that melt at different temperatures. Get a 250, a 350 and a 500 degree stick, and use those as your guides. Heat...

    Engine cleaner degreaser etc

Simple Green and a hot water pressure washer/steam cleaner. You can rent one if you don't have access to one. For the nightmare of maintenance that my old Jenny steam cleaner is, it's one of my most used tools.

Whatm is the world coming to? Crazy Goats!

Interesting. I've been on that trail a few times, never knew there were goats there. I had one try and take my camera bag at Mt. Rushmore though.

    whats it worth

An appraisal is a good thing for insurance. Or, just insure it for an agreed value and be done with it.

    Source for OD green paint?

Now there's a place I didn't even think of. I was even there on Saturday picking up some grinding wheels. I'll have to see if my local one has it. The joys of being back to work- now I can afford this stuff, but don't have the time to do anything.

That's the way to do it- Keep paying the same and it will get paid off so much faster.

    Source for OD green paint?

Anyone know of a place that carries oil based OD green by the quart or gallon? The Surplus Warehouse here only has it in latex. I've been told Smith and Edwards might, but they haven't responded to my email and I don't want to take a trip that long for something that might not be there.

    tire balancing with airsoft bb's

The copper coating flakes off very quickly, then the steel rusts into a fine powder that tends to clump. It'll stick in one spot and make the balance even worse, and what doesn't stick will plug your valve core You can get around the plugged valve core problems by using the filtered cores made...

    train guys...."do not hump" ??

A hump yard is an automated train building system where individual cars are cut off a train, roll down a hill or "hump", through a set of computer controlled switches, and then run into another string of cars heading in the same direction. It's very rough, as distances are estimated and cars...

    tire balancing with airsoft bb's

WW fluid works, but it will corrode the inside of the wheel, plus when the tire is warm it's full of flammable vapors- All that stuff is is a methanol/water blend. I'd run that in a tubed tire like a tractor as an alternative to brine, but then it's for weight not balance.

    Welding wire size difference

It all really depends on what you are welding on and what machine you are running. The flux core wire is good if you'll be in somewhat windy areas, as shielding gas will just get blown away. You need more amperage to handle thicker wire, and more heat is generated at the weld so it's best to...
