    Dana 44 front to 5 on 5.5

On my Commando I have a narrowed 78 d44 from a chevy Blazer, 78 calipers and brackets, 75 chev small bearing spindles and flat tops and 77 F150 hubs and rotors. I also used the chevy outer stub shaft. There are more F150 hubs and rotors that will work besides the 78-79 but I don't have the years...

    High pinion Dana 44s

The Tear A Part has a 76 and a 77 F150 with the high pinion dana 44s in them. These are the best years to grab since they don't have the cast knuckle section. We would grab them but we already have too many in the garage. Dress warm its cold out there. They rotate their stock quickly and I would...

    Good machine shop for a 4.0 stroker re-build ?

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'll have to call and talk it over. My son is currently saving up for the rebuild and has a way to go still before he can afford it but wants to get suggestions.

    Dead 96 ZJ

I checked the distributor right after it died and it was dry. I don't think the ECU was submerged, it might have been splashed on however. I am going to continue testing each sensor and I'll check the oil pressure sensor too. I would have looked at it last night but I didn't want to get my...

    Brake Controller?

If I remember correctly one wire would be 12 V source, one ground and one feeds the brake wire. The newer ones have black as +12V, white as ground, red goes to the brake light switch and blue feeds the trailer brakes. When driving a fixed resistive load the higher the voltage the higher the...

    Dead 96 ZJ

I found some info on checking the CPS and the cam position sensor so I'll be trying that before swapping out the ecm. I will also try using one of my oscilloscopes to watch for waveforms from the two sensors to see what is happening. I am also going to check some of the control voltages from the...

    Dead 96 ZJ

Well I did some more testing and verified that all of the ground wires are good, the fuel pump comes up to pressure if I manually enable it at the fuel pump relay. The fuel sending unit has reasonable resistance for the amount of gas. I disconnected the crank position sensor which some on the...

    Dead 96 ZJ

I checked all of the fuses for continuity and voltage and they all look good. I also verified that there is no spark to the plugs and no voltage at the injectors while it is cranking. All accesories work fine. I believe this obd2 ecu runs the gauges through a serial interface so if the serial...

    Dead 96 ZJ

Its a 4.0. Would a bad CPS cause the loss of gauges and no error codes ? I know they won't run with a bad CPS but I would think the computer would still be able to show codes.

    Dead 96 ZJ

My son was out driving yesterday in the rain and a few miles after going through some deep puddles our 96 ZJ died. It will turn over just fine and has plenty of fuel pressure at the fuel rail. The gauges aren't working and the computer won't flash any codes at all. The fuel pump runs all the...

    D44 ?

I was able to swap ford 5 lug hubs and rotors on to a chevy d44 (same as the jeep) without having to machine anything by using the small bearing spindles. You use the jeep or chevy outer stub shafts since the ford stub shafts are not the same length and you won't be able to put the outer hub...

    D44 ?

Yes you can swap the knuckles but you don't need to. You can swap the ford hubs and rotors on to the waggy axle as long as you have small bearing spindles found on the early 70s GM or jeep 1/2 ton axles.

trouble looking up alternator please help.

The plug looks exactly like the one on my son's 87 MJ. I just put a GM alternator in his comanche from a chev suburban and only had to rotate the front mount of the alternator a bit. So I bet you could use a GM plug or a renix era jeep plug which ever is easier to find.
