Broke my own cardinal rule last night about not dumping ALL of the fuel from a transfer jug into the OPE. I'm running a bit low on fuel and have to get some more this weekend but arrived home last night and had to clear 4 inches from all the concrete and the snowblower tank was empty from the morning snow removal. As I was dumping the last remaining fuel into the snowblower's fuel tank I got distracted and just as it was finishing I saw some black shit go through the clear hose to the tank. SHIT! I had hoped it wouldn't be enough to cause any disruption but nope, it bit me in the ass and rather quickly.
I only got about 15-minutes into the snow clearing process when it started missing and popping. I thought "well, that didn't take as long as I had hoped." Ended up taking it into the shop in the backyard, pulling the covers and then the carb to clean.
Once the carb was removed I opened the valve and let some fuel run through to let the bottom of the tank clear and then pulled the carb apart. There was black specs in both the main jet as well as the emulsion tube so after a shot of brake clean and compressed air I double checked the needle and seat to ensure it was holding and then all back together.
Fired right up and purred like a kitten for the next hour and a half of snow blowing. That idiot move cost me about 25-minutes of delay I hadn't planned on. 🤬
