Cast steel cools at a different rate than the cold rolled steel that would be welded to it and often leads to cracked welds. I know you can weld the two but you have to pre and post heat the weld areas properly.

I have a 700r4 that I have a Dodge 241D transfer case on. This gives the fixed yoke output and a lower ratio than the 208 or the 205. You do have to swap in a chevy input shaft but that isn't very hard.

Tom Woods suggests not using these for higway speeds because of vibrations. I will have hubs and will mostly use the front for going slow but I wonder how bad the vibes might be at higher speeds with just a slight side angle.
